What is World Pulses Day?

World Pulses Day is an opportunity to celebrate the role that powerful pulses – such as beans, chickpeas and lentils – play in addressing the challenges of poverty, food security, nutrition, soil health and climate change.

The campaign is by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, which says: “This celebration presents a unique opportunity to raise public awareness about pulses and the fundamental role they play in the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.”
